At the end of season 34 Athony Dabe found himself on the 22nd spot on the international ranking (shared with Curcio Abarca of Matrix team).
Dabe earned his 1040 points in 14 races, it is noteworthy that in 10 of those races he actually reached the top 3 (4 wins, 2 seconds, 4 thirds). Two of those wins (and one third place) were earned during the mountain stages of the Norway Tour. Dabe's climbing domination earned him a 4th place in the general classification of that prestigious race.
Of course Dabe also represented Bermuda, with a 2nd place in CoN Delhi and a 9th place in CoN Rio de Janeiro as the most notable results.
The only black spot in Dabe's season occurred at day 61 in the Vuelta Huesca. Several riders went to the ground in a major crash, but Dabe was the only one that could not get back on his bike immediately. For 10 long days Athony Dabe was forced to stay in hospital.
When asked if Dabe could repeat his performance in season 35 Koen, manager of Driehoek, hesitated: 'I guess everything is possible, but this season things just clicked. It will be hard to outdo that. For example, we scored a lot of points in the Norway Tour and those very points might block us from entering again this season. And even if we manage to enter, can we really expect Dabe to win 2 mountain stages again? On the other hand, if he doesn't suffer an injury this year... who knows? The only thing that I can say for sure is that Dabe is no longer bothered by the curse of the amazing jersey.'
'Is there any truth to the rumors that Joey Farrow replaces Dabe during press conferences as long as Dabe leads the Bermudean ranking?'
Koen only smiled while Elbert Flynn, Driehoeks PR manager, quickly ended the interview.
